Who is Sven Botman?

The Dutchman is currently on loan from Ajax reserves team. He made his first ever appearance for ajax in December 2018. Currently in Heerenveen, he has scored two goals in 17 outings for his club with a better goal percentage than he had in ajax. He has the abilities of a successful defender, even playing from the left defensive position. Sven Botman is a great prospect to watch.

What is Sven Botmans’ style of play?

Sven Botman is one of the defenders that prefer to keep the ball. He has the style of play like that of Virgil Van Dijk of Liverpool. Due to his height, he has the tends to win a whole lot of aerial duels. He only clears the ball when it matters most to his team, or when they are under high pressure, otherwise he likes keeping possession by playing short passes to his teammates. He also shows strength when it comes to attacking, as most times, he is seen helping the attack in times of need.

What are Sven Botmans’ strengths?

Not a perfect payer all round, but he has all it takes to be the one of the best defenders in the world. Standing at 193cm, he is a pretty tall footballer, possessing some special defensive attributes like heading, man marking and tackling. He has a great personality, and he has the determination to succeed as a Centre-defender. His vision makes it really easy for him to make quick and decisive passes, instead of clearing the ball with the possibility of finding his teammates. These are some of the features and characters he possesses, but at this stage, he is mostly concerned with improving his game and having opportunities with one of the top teams in Europe.

What are Sven Botmans’ weaknesses?

No single player is blessed with all the characteristics of an attacker and a defender at the same time. There are some areas of the game where the Dutchman lacks. His attacking in general is poor, but it is not reasonable that we have to compare the attributes of a defender based on that of an attacker. Having said that, he still contributed directly to 5 goals this season (2 goals and 3 assists), thus, showing what an asset Botman is.

Sven Botmans’ Stats Analysis

Current season (19/20)

Sven Botman has impressed this season, as he played all the 17 matches; whilst starting all of the possible matches. Botman has proved that he is first team material; a defender which still contributes towards scoring goals. You could see a leader in Sven, we advise you to watch him play. What an impressive individual.
