What are the Main Differences between Nike Mercurial Superfly & Nike Mercurial Vapor?

It’s easy to get confused between Nike Mercurial Vapor vs Superfly because they are similar shoes. The main differences between the two boots include:

Mercurial Vapor vs Nike Mercurial Superfly

– Cut of Upper –

Nike Mercurial Vapor has a low cut upper. Whereas Nike Mercurial Superfly features a Dynamic Fit collar to add support around your ankle (even though it does not add much support overall).

– Price –

Nike Mercurial Vapor is cheaper than Nike Mercurial Superfly as it comes in at £245 compared to £235 for the latter boot. This is due to its simpler design which one features a dynamic fit collar and the other does not. However, both football boots come with the excellent value per dollar spent.

How does the new Nike Mercurial Superfly 8 vs Nike Mercurial Vapor 14 fit?

When it comes to the fit, Nike Mercurial Superfly fit nearly the same as the only difference is the Dynamic Fit collar, but the difference between them doesn’t affect your performance on the pitch.

The same goes for weight. They are both lightweight shoes that won’t weigh you down during play! It’s also worth mentioning that this comparison holds true with all sizes of boots; they all run true to size and are very snug.

The new vaporposite upper, offers exceptional touch and control of the ball. This kind of upper is featured on both variants and there is absolutely no difference to fit and feel.

Does the Dynamic Fit Collar Make a lot of difference in performance?

I’ll go straight to the point, the Dynamic Fit collar does not make any kind of difference. A lot of reports thought that this would make for very good ankle support. However, this does not hold true. For some it might be comfortable, however, it does not offer significant (or any) ankle support.

So with that in mind, Nike Mercurial Superfly are essentially Vapor with a Dynamic fit collar. This collar will give your ankle support but it is not significant enough to make any real noticeable difference in performance or comfort. Does that justify the £10 increase though? That is down to your personal preference.

How is the traction of the new Nike Mercurial Superfly 8 vs the new Nike Mercurial Vapor 14?

With the new outsole featured on both models, traction was much better than previous releases. Having used them both, traction is great and really responsive on both boots. The Nike Mercurial Superfly has the same soleplate as the Vapor 14 which is great for traction.

Changing direction and being aggressive on both boots is great. And we haven’t noticed any difference between the Vapor 14 & Superfly. It feels the same cause essentially it is the same boot with a Dynamic Fit collar.

It used to be different – the superfly used to have some different technology to the vapor’s, however, this is not the case with the latest release.

Which one Is the lightest: new Nike Mercurial Superfly 8 vs Nike Mercurial Vapor 14?

Both football boots are very light, however, the new Nike Mercurial Vapor 14 is lighter than the Nike Mercurial Superfly 8.

The Vapor 14 is lighter than its predecessor which was a big plus in terms of comfort and performance. The weight savings were achieved by shaving off material where they weren’t really needed (heel counter, outsole). This has helped with making it feel more like an extension of your foot rather than simply a shoe.

In comparison to the past, the Nike Mercurial is currently leading the light & speed boot category. With new advancements made to the Nike Mercurial Vapor 14, this boot is about as light and fast as it can get.

Overall, both boots are great but there’s not a lot of difference in terms of weight between them. If you’re looking for lighter football boots then we’d recommend going with the Vapor 14 because it does not feature the Dynamic Fit collar as on the Superfly. However, within the mid-collar category the superfly are the best option if you want speed and (allegedly) extra comfort (though personal preference) combined.

Which the most comfortable ? The Nike Mercurial Superfly 8 vs Nike Mercurial Vapor 14?

It comes down to personal preference. One features the Dynamic Fit collar, and the other does not. They are both very comfortable, however, if you like the feel of a mid-collar then go with the Nike Mercurial Vapor.

With both football boots having an amazing fit and being very snug; there is no real difference in terms of comfort. The Vapor 14 does not feature any type of Dynamic Fit Collar so for someone who is looking for a low cut, these are perfect for you. If you’d prefer a Dynamic Fit collar for maybe extra stability, then you’d need to go with the Nike Mercurial Superfly.
