Lewandowski’s brace inspired Barcelona’s late comeback

Barcelona scored three goals in the span of eight minutes to complete a comeback against Celta Vigo in La Liga. This late comeback puts Barcelona at the top of the table. Real Madrid is now just one point behind FC Barcelona and Girona, with a game in hand. Real Madrid will take on Atletico Madrid tonight at Wanda Metropolitano.

First-half setback for Barça

Barcelona dominated most of the possession in the first half. However, they were not able to create a serious threat on Celta Vigo’s goal. Barcelona looked very weak on the attacking aspect, and it was Jorgen Strand Larsen who gave Celta Vigo a lead in the 19th minute of the game. That was the only goal scored in the first half.

Second-half thriller

The first thirty minutes of the second half were somehow similar to the first-half action. Barça kept the majority of possession, but they could not create any serious trouble for Celta’s goalie. Ferran Torres missed a couple of good chances. Celta Vigo was constantly threatening Ter Stegen on the counter-attack, and as a result, they doubled their lead in the 76th minute via Anastasios Douvikas.

Late comeback from Barcelona

With ten minutes of normal time remaining, Celta Vigo had a comfortable 2:0 lead. However, a fine assist from Joao Felix resulted in Lewandowski scoring a goal back for Barcelona in the 81st minute. Once Barça scored a goal, it didn’t take them long to get an equalizer. Robert Lewandowski scored his brace in the 85th minute, and Celta Vigo’s two-goal lead vanished in the blink of an eye. After conceding two goals in quick succession, Celta Vigo looked more vulnerable in front of the goal, and Joao Cancelo scored a goal to complete the comeback for FC Barcelona in the 89th minute. Gavi provided a beautiful pass to Cancelo for the go-ahead goal.

Joãos bringing joy to Barcelona

The signing of Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo on loan has massively boosted Barcelona’s quality this season. The two Portuguese players were involved in all three goals for Barcelona last night. Felix provided an assist for the first goal, while Joao Cancelo assisted in the equalizing goal before scoring the winner.
