Hat-trick of Hat-trick in the Premier League
With the first thirty-one matches of the Premier League 2023/24 failing to produce any hat-tricks, the next five matches produced three hat-tricks in quick succession. Son Heung-Min, Erling Haaland, and Evan Ferguson scored a hat-trick for their respective teams in gameweek four of the Premier League 2023/24. This is also the second time in premier league history that three hattricks were scored in the single day of Premier League.
Son Heung-Min vs. Burnley
Newly-promoted Burnley headed into the match against Spurs with zero points from their previous three matches. Kompany’s side took an early lead when Lyle Foster scored for them in the fourth minute. Trailing by one goal to Burnley, Captain Son scored a hat-trick to rescue Tottenham. He scored in the sixteenth, sixty-fourth, and sixty-sixth minute to complete his hat-trick before getting replaced by Richarlison in the sixty-eighth minute. This was also the first hat-trick of the Premier League 2023/24. Son’s hat-trick inspired Tottenham to a 5:2 victory against Burnley. In the process, Son Heung-Min became the first Asian player to ever score four hat-tricks in the Premier League. He is also the first Asian player to captain a top Premier League club.
erling haaland vs fulham
Just a day after clinching the UEFA Player of the Year award ahead of Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland showcased his dominance in the goal-scoring aspect of the game by netting another Premier League hat-trick. PFA Player of the Year, Erling Haaland, scored goals in the 58th, 70th, and 90+5th minute. Manchester City won the game 5:1 against Fulham, with Erling Haaland contributing to four goals—three goals and an assist to Julian Alvarez.
Haaland is already at the 9th position on the All-Time List of Most Hat-Tricks in Premier League History. This is his fifth Premier League hat-trick. The Norwegian star joined Manchester City last season and has made a mockery of arguably the best league in the world.
Evan Ferguson vs. Newcastle
Brighton and Hove Albion, under De Zerby, are off to a flying start in this Premier League season. Last night, Brighton easily beat Newcastle United with a scoreline of 3:1, thanks to a sensational hat-trick by Evan Ferguson. Ferguson completed his hat-trick in the 70th minute against Newcastle. He scored in the 27th minute to give Brighton the lead and then scored in the 65th minute to double the lead. This is the first Premier League hat-trick for the 18-year-old Irish striker.
