Barcelona settles for a draw, yamal breaks a record

Barça fans had mixed feelings last night as they dropped two points away at Granada, but their young prospect Yamal broke a La Liga record. Yama, aged 16 years and 87 days, with his goal against Granada, became the youngest scorer ever in the history of La Liga.

An early setback for Barcelona

FC Barcelona conceded two early goals against Granada in the match, the first of which was as early as 17 seconds. 30 minutes later, Granada doubled their lead. Both of the goals were scored by 22-year-old Spanish attacker Bryan Zaragoza. Barça, without their key players Pedri and Lewandowski, were struggling from the beginning. Lamine Yamal scored just before halftime to decrease Granada’s lead and make history in La Liga.

Second-half comeback

For the second time this season, FC Barcelona came back from being 2-0 down to get at least a point from the game. Sergio Roberto scored in the 85th minute to bring the game level. After scoring the equalizer, Barcelona was constantly pushing for the winner. In additional time, they came close to winning the match when Joao Felix scored for FC Barcelona; however, the goal was overturned by VAR for being offside. The game ended in a draw, and Barcelona managed to get a point from the match where they were trailing from the first minute of the match.

History for Yamal

The 16-year-old wonderkid has already scored a goal for Spain and became the youngest player to score for the Spanish National team. However, he was yet to score for FC Barcelona. In the match vs. Granada, he made history when he got a goal back for FC Barcelona just a minute before halftime.

Aged 16 years and 87 days, Lamine Yamal broke the previous record set by Fabria Olinga, which was made back in 2012. He is also the youngest player to give an assist in La Liga and the youngest player ever to win the La Liga Man of the Match.

Injury concern for Barça

Joule Kounde was forced to be subbed off following an injury before halftime. He was replaced by Ronald Araujo in the 44th minute of the game. Similarly, record-breaker Lamine Yamal is also suspected to have an injury. He is likely to miss upcoming matches for the Spanish national team. Going into the second international break of the season, Barça now has Lewandowski, Pedri, Kounde, and Yamal on the injury list.
